As the 1/1/18 deadline approaches for the Fire Door inspections, many facilities are scrambling to get things in order. At AFD we have certainly had an influx of calls as the dreaded date approaches. As part of our inspection service, we provide an in-depth detailed report pointing out all the discrepancies we come across during our inspections. Typically, we then go into the facility to make the corrections that were found. A lot of times during the inspections and repairs we come across some prior fixes that might have seemed a good idea at the time, however they are hardly code compliant.
Here’s a short list of some of the common mis-fixes we have come across:
- Cardboard Door shims
- Upside Down Closer (yes, really)
- Bondo to repair doors
- Plastic Shims
- Pennies used as shims
While all of these seem to fix the problem, obviously these are not code compliant corrections. At AFD, our certified inspectors and repair technicians know how to properly fix deficiencies the first time around. It’s important to know that the work is being done correctly, using only approved materials so that your doors can perform properly.
Trust Accurate Fire Door to get your repairs corrected properly.
